It’s going to be a battle of offenses Friday night at 7 p.m. as Lakewood hosts Jordan in a Moore League showdown.
Brayden Downen and the Lancers are coming off a big 56-0 win over Cabrillo where the quarterback threw for 202 yards and rushed for 85 yards. In last year’s meeting in J-Town, Downen scored on a two-yard run in the final minute to give the Lancers a 23-19 win.
Lakewood coach Justin Utupo said the Lancers needed get going offensively and they certainly did against Cabrillo last week.
The Lancers will take on a Jordan team that just had a game to remember in a 58-54 last-second loss to Millikan.
JJ Nielsen threw for over 300 yards and Jordan Washington had five scored and 205 yards of total offense.
“We’re ahead of the curve, I’m playing on house money,” Jordan coach Jon Nielsen said after their close loss to Millikan.
The contest will have big implications in the Moore League as both teams sit at 1-1 record in league play. These two teams were in a three-way tie for a playoff spot in 2021, and needed an envelope draw to decide who would make the playoffs.
