The Wilson Bruins (1-4, 1-1) head west on Anaheim Street to face the Cabrillo Jaguars (0-6, 0-2) on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Both teams have been involved with forfeits this season, and Wilson is looking for its first win on the field. Cabrillo, meanwhile, is looking to get back into the win column after their 4-0 start was wiped away.
Wilson lost to Compton in heartbreaking fashion in a late field goal attempt debacle, 25-27. On the other hand, Cabrillo suffered a shutout against Lakewood, as the Jaguars were blanked 56-0.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, the Bruins are looking to carry the positive momentum, especially on the offensive side of the ball, where star junior running back Christian Chapman on 22 carries rushed for 238 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per carry, last Friday night.
For Cabrillo, the Jaguars are still trying to find that pre-league magic and that offensive explosion led by junior quarterback Luis Haro and freshman phenom D’Jon Pittman. In preseason, the Jaguars pounced on opponents, outscoring them 133-43; while in Moore League, that offense has been subdued to only scoring 26 while surrendering 106.
In last year’s matchup, the Bruins dominated 54-0. It was 2014 the last time Cabrillo defeated Wilson, where the Jaguars won 54-45. Cabrillo is also looking for its first Moore League win since 2019.
