The562’s coverage of Millikan athletics in the 2022-23 school year is sponsored by Curtis Boyer.
For the second consecutive week both Millikan and Compton are playing a game with massive CIF playoff implications. Kickoff at Millikan is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Compton ((4-3, 2-1) is currently alone in second place in the Moore League behind Long Beach Poly, and Millikan (2-5, 2-2) is one of three teams tied for third place after forfeiting games. A Millikan win could set up a situation where four different league teams enter the penultimate week of the regular season with two losses.
Millikan bounced back as a program last week when coach Romeo Pellum and quarterback Myles Jackson both returned in a blowout win over rival Lakewood.
Compton went blow for blow with Jordan on the road last week until Jordan Washington ran the Panthers to a lopsided win late.
The Rams are probably the more healthy team coming into this game as Compton will be without starting quarterback Aava Lilomaiava.
Last year, Millikan cruised to a 42-6 victory at Compton College. Jackson was 12/21 for 194 yards in that game while tossing touchdowns to four different receivers.
