Three teams in the Moore League remain unbeaten at this early stage of the season, with a combined 18-1 record among the top four teams. Millikan is 7-0 and has this week off, while Lakewood is coming off an impressive performance over the weekend at the Saddleback Water Polo Tournament, where they won the Gold Division to improve to 5-0 on the year.
Freshman Kyley Seeds scored a team-best 20 goals for the Lancers while veterans Brooke Baze and Marlene Isaacson helped lead the team to wins over Mayfield (13-4), Diamond Bar (11-6), St. Joseph (12-11) and Rosary (11-7) in the title game.
“It was great to see the team come together and play for each other on their way to the tournament win,” said first-year Lakewood head coach Dylan Thompson. “Many of the games could have gone either way, and the team proved that they have the ability to stay mentally focused and resilient as they manage the intensity of close games. With the early success, it is also exciting to see the entire team remain committed to finding ways to improve. They are working hard to make the most out of this season, and I am excited to see what they are able to accomplish next.”
