Ian Nolte, Wilson Volleyball
Junior Ian Nolte recently committed to Ohio State, and in a four-set win over Millikan last week to keep the Bruins undefeated in league, Nolte showed his talent. He led the Bruins with 15 kills, five digs, and an ace.
Janelle Morris, Long Beach Poly Softball
Poly freshman catcher Janelle Morris had three hits including a 2-run HR in the Jackrabbits’ 12-0 win over Wilson. Morris is one of a trio of highly-ranked freshman who’ve raised expectations for the softball team at 1600 Atlantic.
COLLEGE
Angelina Kim, Long Beach State Golf
Angelina Kim was the individual champion at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai’i, shooting two-over across 54 holes with a score of 218 and winning a playoff against teammate Hannah Ko. In the process, Kim was the first individual winner of a tournament other than the Big West Championship for LBSU since 2015.
Olivia Ramirez, LBCC Softball
LBCC’s Olivia Ramirez was named the California Community College Fastpich Coaches Association’s Pitcher of the Week, after leading LBCC to a pair of wins. She showcased her relief talents in a 3-2 nine-inning win striking out 14 of 15 batters faced. She also had a complete game shutout against Chaffey earlier in the week.
