The two Moore League baseball games at Blair Field on Wednesday will shake out the top four spots in the league standings.
Millikan (10-8, 3-0) will take on Long Beach Poly (11-8, 3-0) at 3:30 p.m. with first place on the line, and Lakewood (5-11, 2-1) will face Wilson (8-7-1, 2-1) at approximately 6:30 p.m. where the loser will fall to fourth.
Poly hasn’t beaten Millikan in three years, and the two teams have very different styles this season. The Jackrabbits have relied on their potent offense to win games, and has outscored their opponents 147-109. The Rams, on the other hand, have relied on solid pitching and defense. They have outscored their opponents 81-59.
Wilson and Lakewood have split their regular season series in each of the last two years, but the Lancers have won four of the last six meetings. The Bruins could use as many as five pitchers in this game, and the Lancers will try to sure up their defense that has already committed 24 errors this season.
Wilson athletics Hall Of Famer Terry Kassien has organized his annual Bruin Night, and local Little League legends Sean and Jeff Burroughs will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
