An LBC native, Mike Guardabascio has been covering Long Beach sports professionally for 13 years, with his work published in dozens of Southern California magazines and newspapers. He's won numerous awards for his writing as well as the CIF Southern Section’s Champion For Character Award, and is the author of three books about Long Beach history.
Long Beach Poly defeated Jordan 21-0 in both team’s Moore League opener. Poly (10-1, 1-0) was led by Josh Sok (3 runs), Ryan Skjonsby (2/2, 4 runs, 2 RBI), and pitcher Elias Torres, who got the win.
Lakewood High hosted the CIF Southern Section Division 3 team dual competition on Saturday, and our own Joseph Kling got great action shots of Millikan, Poly and Lakewood. The Rams and Jackrabbits both picked up wins before being eliminated in the quarterfinals.
