It’s been two years since the Long Beach Poly girls’ water polo team won its first-ever Moore League championship, with a thrilling win over Wilson. Since then, the Jackrabbits have graduated two big senior classes, including seven players from last year’s Moore League runner-up.
This year, head coach Brandon D’Sa has only four seniors on the team in Maddy Marshall, Dom Waddell, Ana Esposito, and Emily Rockenbach. Just because that group is small doesn’t mean they aren’t having a big impact.
“We have an incredibly strong work ethic, and our senior leaders have done a phenomenal job during this preseason to push our girls to be the best we can possibly be,” said D’Sa.
The Jackrabbits also have some young talent, including junior Georgia Buffington and freshman Jackie Hahn, younger sister of recent Poly standout Josie.
“I’m also excited because we get to play Wilson and Millikan at home this year and we have such a great atmosphere at our pool,” said D’Sa.
