An Olympic year brings a whole different level of excitement, and once again there’s sure to be several Long Beach athletes and coaches representing the city and the country at this year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo. We’re expecting multiple recent alums of the Long Beach State men’s volleyball team to make the national team, and Long Beach State track assistant coach LaTanya Sheffield has already signed on as a national team sprints coach.
But the Olympics aren’t the only international competition going on this summer. Long Beach will once again host the Dew Tour, which will be an Olympic qualifier event, as well as the USA Triathlon Legacy race, which will be used as an international qualifier as well. It’s shaping up to be another fun summer of international competition in the International City.
