Long Beach Poly, Millikan and Wilson all picked up Moore League wins on Monday.
Long Beach Poly 1, Cabrillo 0
The Jackrabbits (13-3-4, 6-1-1) picked up an important win over visiting Cabrillo on Monday. Sophomore Luke Brown scored a header in the 32nd minute on a fantastic long pass into the box from sophomore Christian Mendoza.
“It was a tough game,” Poly coach Eric Leon said. “We hung on and we’ll take it. I think we’re a little fitter, and our rotation is a little deeper than theirs and it helped out.”
Cabrillo (9-8-1, 5-3-1) maintained its hold on third place in league while outshooting Poly 15-10 in the game. Jackrabbits goalkeeper Griffin Welch and Jaguars goalkeeper Yancy Monterolla both had four saves.
Poly has been playing a smart brand of soccer to move to the top of the league standings alongside Millikan with a game in hand.
Millikan 2, Lakewood 1
The Rams (19-2-3, 6-1-2) edged the Lancers at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Wilson 3, Compton 0
The Bruins (7-9-2, 3-5-1) got a much needed victory on the road.
