There has been plenty of change and adversity for the Compton softball program, but the one constant has been coach DeShawn Kelly.
“She’s very supportive and a good motivator,” senior Janice Thomas said. “She even motivated me to keep playing.”
Thomas has stuck with it and is back in the circle to be the No. 1 pitcher while also playing some second base.
“We got better, especially on defense, and hopefully we show it out there on the field,” Thomas said. “We have to keep each other motivated and communicate no matter what.”
Compton is trying to snap a 32-game Moore League losing streak after getting outscored 242-10 in league play last year.
